St. Mary's University Founders Residence Hall

Construction Cost : $14.3M | SF : 87,605 St. Mary’s University was founded by the Marianist sect of the Catholic church in the late 1800’s. The “Old Main” building on campus, St. Louis Hall, was a replica of the original St. Mary’s College facility in France. Virtually none of the buildings built on the campus since the original St. Louis Hall building was built respected the architectural heritage of this exquisite building. RSA’s philosophy of “Campus Heritage” led to a current interpretation of the winsome Marianist architecture for the design of the new Founder’s Residence Hall. Conceived to feel a part of the existing residence life community, the design serves two important roles. The building is the initial experience in a series of residence life buildings that form the “campus edge” near the intersection of two major vehicular arterials around the campus. Additionally, the building serves as an external boundary for pedestrians traversing an informal quad that connects Founder’s Hall with the remainder of the residence life facilities on the south side of campus. Dual occupancy rooms afford interaction among residents supported by amenities such as billiards, TV lounges, a generous central courtyard, verandas and large meeting rooms.
