Plaza Verde Residence Hall

Construction Cost : $24.4 | SF : 165,927 After making the decision to become a Residential Campus in 2009, ASU commissioned RSA to design this 900 bed 2 Phase Plaza Verde First Year Experience Living/Learning Residence Hall. RSA’s fourth Residence Hall project on the ASU campus, the design implemented an innovative modular community concept with 18 dual occupancy rooms per floor encircling a flexible Gathering Space (lounge/study/gaming area) in the center. Student amenities in the living units were minimized in favor of maximizing those in the centralized Gathering Spaces on each floor. Students in cohorts of 36 beds share centralized living rooms containing moveable lounge furniture, large screen TV’s, high bandwidth gaming connectivity, and state-of-the-art media technology designed specifically for collaborative learning. Amenities included large and small meeting rooms to support Living/Learning functions, teaming rooms, conference facilities, multi-purpose spaces, catering kitchen, indoor student recreation areas, Residence Life offices, staff apartments and a “model” leasing unit.
